Clash Over Konkan's Crop Compensation

The Maharashtra Congress has voiced its discontent with the BJP-led Mahayuti government following actions to suppress a protest march. The demonstration, calling for financial aid for mango and cashew farmers from the Konkan region, faced police detentions even before it began.

State Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal accused the government of stifling democratic rights by detaining leaders and activists, including prominent figures like Raju Shetty and Vinayak Raut. The farmers, enduring hardships and seeking aid for three months, were set to march towards Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's residence.

With demands for Rs 5 lakh per hectare for mango and Rs 3 lakh per hectare for cashew cultivators, the Congress pledged full support to the farmers. Sapkal affirmed that the struggle would continue until the government's response met the farmers' financial needs.
