Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday said the Centre was, in principle, ready to participate in the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro project on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis with the state government.
Reddy, who reviewed key development projects in Hyderabad with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal in Delhi, said the latter had assured him that the Centre would positively consider the state government's proposal for the 162-km second phase.
Manohar Lal told Reddy that the Centre would take a final decision after receiving the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other technical details from the state government.
Manohar Lal also said that the Centre was cooperating with the state government to improve infrastructure and basic amenities in Hyderabad, Reddy said in a release.
He also informed Reddy that the Centre had sanctioned 39 sewage treatment plants (STPs) to clean the Musi River under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.O (AMRUT) scheme at Rs 3,975 crore.
According to a PIB release, the initiative was launched in 2021 to provide functional tap water connections to all households in statutory towns across the country and sewerage/septage management coverage in 500 cities covered under the first phase of AMRUT.
