NCRTC invites bids for commercial spaces at Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has invited bids for licensing commercial spaces at the Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station on the Delhi-Meerut corridor as part of its efforts to strengthen commuter facilities and develop station areas into integrated urban hubs.

According to a statement, around 818 square metres of commercial space on the ground floor of the station is being offered on a licence basis through an e-tendering process.

Interested bidders can participate in the e-tendering process till June 17, it said.

The available inventory comprises eight locations, including both bare and built-up units ranging from 17 square metres to 247 square metres. The licence period will range between nine and 15 years, the statement said.

The spaces can be utilised for commuter-oriented facilities such as food and beverage outlets, cafes, convenience stores, service centres, pod services and other retail activities, it said.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said the initiative is aimed at improving convenience for passengers by providing essential services within the station premises while also creating commercial opportunities for businesses and service providers.

The 82-km Namo Bharat Delhi-Meerut corridor is India's first high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), connecting Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut.

Sarai Kale Khan is among the largest stations on the corridor, which is being developed as a major multi-modal transport hub, the statement said.

The station is connected to the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, the Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT, and the Pink Line of Delhi Metro, besides providing access to the Ring Road.

Recently, the NCRTC operationalised a 280-metre covered foot overbridge equipped with travelators to provide direct connectivity between Sarai Kale Khan and the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

According to the corporation, the station's central location, expected high footfall and seamless connectivity make it suitable for commercial and transit-oriented development activities, the statement said.

The NCRTC said it plans to encourage participation from local enterprises, retailers and service providers to create commuter-friendly station spaces while also generating non-fare revenue and employment opportunities.
