A woman died following a tiger attack while gathering firewood in Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary on Monday, officials confirmed.
Apoorv Dixit, Divisional Forest Officer, reported that the victim, Rita Gautam, was attacked near Amritpur village at around 9.30 am. Family efforts to reach the hospital failed as she succumbed en route.
Authorities provided immediate relief and reinforced area surveillance, while local villagers cited frequent wildlife intrusions into residential zones and called for enhanced security measures.
