An intense forest fire engulfed the Kasauli Beat area in Solan district for over 27 hours before being suppressed, thanks to a coordinated effort involving ground crews and the Indian Air Force (IAF). The blaze, starting at 1 PM on May 26, stretched across 10 hectares.

The firefighting campaign was part of the state's Incident Response System, involving nine personnel from the State Forest Department to tackle the inferno in challenging conditions, with indispensable aid from the IAF's aerial support missions.

Despite threatening military installations and residential areas, the IAF's Mi-17 V5 helicopters conducted over 150 sorties, dispensing 62,500 litres of water, effectively mitigating the fire's spread. Continued operations aim to protect the forests and local communities.
