In a devastating incident, five labourers were killed as the soil collapsed on them during the construction of a well in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district. This happened in Biharpurwa village, Ajaygarh block, around midday.
The victims were working on a public irrigation project under the MNREGA scheme when the accident occurred, confirmed Panna Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu. Efforts were made to retrieve the bodies, which have since been sent for post-mortem examination.
Upon learning of the tragedy, District Collector Usha Parmar promptly arrived at the scene to oversee rescue operations. She met with the families of the deceased, offering assurances of support and assistance from the administration in the wake of the incident.
