In Himachal Pradesh, a significant landslide has disrupted travel on the Sansari-Killar-Therot-Tandi road in Lahaul and Spiti District, officials reported. The local administration has prioritized reopening this vital route to ensure the smooth progress of ongoing panchayat elections.

The weather office predicts that the current heatwave in parts of the state will be alleviated by an expected wet spell beginning May 28. This forecast comes as a new Western Disturbance is set to influence the northwest region of India.

Efforts are underway to establish an alternative route for light vehicles, with work proceeding rapidly. The Shimla Met office has put out an orange alert for thunderstorms and gusty winds in several districts.
