India's ambitious solar energy initiative, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, has successfully solarised 40 lakh households, according to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. This initiative is designed to shift homes from being solely energy consumers to becoming power producers.
The minister stated that not only does the scheme empower families with photovoltaic systems, but it also aids them financially by reducing electricity costs and leveraging government subsidies. Launched in February 2024, the goal is to install such systems in one crore households by March 2027.
