Virat Kohli: A Cricket Legend Bids Farewell to Test Cricket
Virat Kohli, India’s cricket legend, retires from test cricket after a remarkable career. Debuting in 2011, Kohli amassed 9,230 runs and led India to numerous victories. Known for his impressive captaincy, Kohli exits the stage with gratitude and plans to continue playing one-day internationals.

India's cricket luminary, Virat Kohli, announced his retirement from the test format on Monday, marking the end of a spectacular career spanning over a decade. Kohli's retirement coincides closely with captain Rohit Sharma also stepping down from test cricket duties.
Debuting in 2011, Kohli leaves a legacy of 9,230 runs, an average of 46.85, and 30 centuries over 123 tests. Although he steps away from the longest format, the 36-year-old intends to continue his cricketing journey with one-day internationals, having already retired from Twenty20 internationals after India's victory in the World Cup in the West Indies last year.
Reflecting on his career on Instagram, Kohli expressed profound gratitude for the lessons learned and shared moments in test cricket. Despite the recent test series loss to Australia, Kohli's tenure as India's most successful test captain from 2014 to 2022, with 40 wins, remains unforgettable. As India looks forward to their next test series against England, Kohli bows out with a heart full of gratitude and fond memories.
