West Indies cricket sensation Hayley Matthews, a leading figure in T20 Internationals, is slated for shoulder surgery, following an injury incurred during a match against England. The celebrated all-rounder, with an impressive record of 5,902 runs and 236 wickets, is set to be out of action for a substantial period, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

After suffering a fielding injury during the initial ODI in England, Matthews was sidelined for the remainder of the series. She made a comeback in the home ODI series against South Africa, even with the West Indies not qualifying for the imminent ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, Matthews has opted for the surgery as part of her long-term recovery strategy. Despite her shoulder predicament, she managed to score 104 runs, including a fifty, and claimed four wickets during the series.

This development means Matthews will miss the forthcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia. Previously signed by Melbourne Renegades, she was preparing for her fourth season. "It's disappointing Hayley won't join us this season," noted Renegades' General Manager James Rosengarten. He emphasized Matthews' pivotal role and assured continued support and collaboration in the future.
