AIFF Mourns Loss of Influential Sports Administrator Atuo Mezhur

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is mourning the loss of Atuo Mezhur, a venerable figure in Indian sports administration. Mezhur, who passed away earlier this week, was a former Vice President and Executive Committee member of AIFF. He held key positions within Nagaland's sports organizations, including President and General Secretary roles in the Nagaland Football and Tennis Associations, as well as the Nagaland Olympic Association.

Mezhur's contributions were instrumental in Indian football's growth on both national and grassroots levels. A notable accomplishment was his leadership as chef de mission for the India U19 national team, which clinched the Ian Rush Trophy during their 2004 tour of Northern Ireland and England. Additionally, he guided the India U21 national team in their 1998 Mauritius tour.

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey expressed condolences in a letter to Nagaland Football's President, emphasizing Mezhur's pivotal role in advancing youth football. Chaubey remarked on the void his passing leaves in the Indian sports community. The AIFF extends its deepest sympathies to Mezhur's family and colleagues, honoring his enduring legacy.
