Uncertainty Looms Over Indian Super League's Future Amid MRA Stalemate
The future of the Indian Super League (ISL) is uncertain as its 2025-26 edition hangs in balance due to unclear status of the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) with the AIFF. Talks of restructuring and Supreme Court decisions complicate matters, with the ISL not mentioned in the recent season calendar.

The Indian Super League (ISL) faces an uncertain future as organizers await clarity on the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) with the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The MRA, which allows Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) to broadcast, manage, and commercialize Indian football, expires in December.
Despite the AIFF not receiving any communication from FSDL about ISL's fate, sources suggest restructuring plans are underway. A new holding company proposed by FSDL could see clubs owning 60% and AIFF owning 14% of shares. This reorganization, however, awaits the Supreme Court's directive on a pending AIFF case.
The AIFF's 2025-26 competition calendar, released without ISL dates, has added to the confusion. As negotiations continue, the future remains clouded by legal proceedings and internal deliberations.
