Rugby sevens, a faster-paced variant of the traditional Rugby 15s, is witnessing a surge in global popularity, notably following its inclusion in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. This accelerated format, characterized by shorter matches and high-intensity play, is capturing the attention of new audiences and countries worldwide, as reported by Rugby Premier League (RPL).

Traditionally strong nations like Fiji, Kenya, and Australia have long embraced rugby sevens, whereas India is a newcomer showing potential and a bright future. Recently, Indian players have been exposed to elite competition through the Rugby Premier League, rubbing shoulders with top international stars.
