The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reprimanded India's wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant, for demonstrating dissent towards an umpire's decision during the third day of the opening Test against England.
Pant received the reprimand after expressing dissatisfaction with the umpires during England's first innings. Despite a stellar performance at Headingley, where he scored centuries in both innings, Pant's conduct drew scrutiny from the ICC for violating Level 1 of the Code of Conduct.
Pant's actions occurred during the 61st over of England's innings while batsmen Harry Brook and Ben Stokes were at the crease. Unhappy with the umpires' decision not to replace the ball, Pant threw the ball to the ground. Admitting to the breach, Pant accepted the sanction, which included one demerit point added to his disciplinary record.
