The Elite Women's Boxing Tournament, starting this Friday in Telangana, is poised to be a landmark event for Indian boxing. With prominent names like Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain and two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen, the competition promises high stakes and intense bouts.
Organized by the Telangana state boxing body under the aegis of the Boxing Federation of India and the Sports Authority of Telangana, the tournament will see participation from 15 units, including Railways, Haryana, and the All India Police. These teams, alongside host Telangana, will feature top contenders vying for glory.
Ajay Singh, BFI president, stated, "This tournament is designed to strengthen the competitive structure of Indian boxing." The event not only offers a pathway into the elite national camp but also serves to discover new talent, ensuring Indian boxing continues to thrive globally.
