In an electrifying streak, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen is on the cusp of etching his name alongside Bangladesh cricket legend Shakib al Hasan. Owen, playing for Washington Freedom, needs just one more 'Player of the Match' award during the ongoing Major League Cricket series to equal Shakib's record for most consecutive honors in T20 cricket.

Owen recently clinched his fourth straight award against the San Francisco Unicorns, delivering a match-winning performance of 5/17, holding their opponents to 157/9 while defending 170 runs. Despite his heroics with the ball, Owen couldn't contribute with the bat as he was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

The stats speak volumes about Owen's current form. He stands as the second-highest run-scorer in the league, amassing 288 runs at an impressive average of 41.14 and a strike rate of 210.21. Owen is also among the top wicket-takers, with 14 wickets at an average of 14.35. His rise began with a record-breaking century for Hobart Hurricanes, securing his spot as a T20 phenomenon.
