In a strategic move by the Pakistan Cricket Board, former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has been appointed the acting red-ball head coach of Pakistan's men's cricket team. He will serve in this capacity until his contract expires in April next year.
Mahmood, who joined the Pakistan Cricket Board as an assistant coach in April last year, previously worked alongside notable cricket figures such as Australia's Jason Gillespie and South Africa's Gary Kirsten. Both have since moved on from their roles.
