In an unprecedented adventure, three European mountaineers successfully paraglided off and skied down from the notorious Nanga Parbat peak located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The achievement was reported by Dawn News, highlighting the bravery of German climber David Göttler and the French duo Tiphaine Duperier and Boris Langenstein.
The daring expedition was undertaken via the Schell route, considered one of the most challenging paths to Nanga Parbat's summit, which stands at 8,126 meters. Göttler's initial plan was to paraglide from the peak, but strong winds redirected his launch to 7,700 meters.
The trio's climb and descent, starting from June 21 and concluding on June 27, is now etched in mountaineering history as the first ski descent from the summit via the Rupal Face. Gilgit-Baltistan, known for its towering peaks, including K2 and Gasherbrum, continues to attract adventurers worldwide.
