In a momentous achievement, Shubman Gill became the first Indian and Asian captain to score a double hundred in a Test match in England, completing the feat during the second match at Edgbaston.

Gill's 200 came off 311 deliveries, surpassing the previous best of 193 by Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan at Lord's in 2011. His innings included 21 fours and two sixes, building on a solid 147 on his debut as Test captain at Leeds. This historic performance places him in an elite group of Indian captains with double centuries, alongside cricketing legends such as MAK Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni.

With this achievement, Gill not only etched his name in cricket history but also joined Virat Kohli, who holds the record with seven double centuries as skipper for India. Gill's double ton marked him as the third Indian batter to record such an achievement in England after Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, highlighting his prowess on the international stage.
