Zheng Qinwen, an Olympic gold medalist, has withdrawn from the upcoming US Open. This decision came on the heels of her recent arthroscopic surgery on her right elbow, which she had due to ongoing pain.

The 22-year-old Chinese tennis star, ranked sixth in the world, openly shared her struggles with persistent discomfort that had affected her training and match performance over the past few months. Despite exploring various treatments, the pain persisted, complicating her game.

Zheng, who had already exited in the first round of Wimbledon, anticipated a lengthy recovery period. Consequently, her absence from this year's last Grand Slam tournament was expected. French player Leolia Jeanjean was named as her replacement at the US Open.
