New Bill Targets Transparency in National Sports Governance
The Sports Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, presented a bill in the Lok Sabha to improve transparency and accountability in national sports bodies. In a move aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in national sports organizations, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced a new bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The legislation seeks to create a regulatory board to oversee bodies such as the BCCI, ensuring they adhere to principles of good governance and ethics.
The proposed National Sports Governance Bill outlines the framework for establishing entities like the National Olympic Committee and the National Paralympic Committee. Its goals include promoting sports development, supporting athletes' welfare, and resolving disputes effectively and fairly.
Alongside this initiative, Mandaviya also tabled The National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill-2025. This aims to meet the World Anti-Doping Agency's requirements, addressing concerns regarding government interference in the national anti-doping body's operations.
