United Airlines Resolves Tech Glitch After Grounding Flights
United Airlines experienced a technology issue, causing a temporary grounding of flights at U.S. airports. The problem, related to a weight calculation system, resulted in significant delays. The glitch was resolved within an hour, affecting nearly 28% of United's services. The incident follows similar technical issues faced by Alaska Airlines.

United Airlines has resolved a brief technology issue that led to the grounding of its flights across U.S. airports on Wednesday. The disruption lasted over an hour, causing delays at major hub airports including Newark, Denver, Houston, and Chicago, as confirmed by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
The airline did not disclose specifics about the technical glitch, but a source revealed that the outage impacted United's weight calculation system. FlightAware data indicated that, by late evening, 870 United flights, or roughly 28%, had been delayed.
This incident mirrors a recent event involving Alaska Airlines, which grounded flights for about three hours due to IT issues. In April 2024, Alaska Airlines faced a similar situation related to its plane weight and balance system, emphasizing ongoing technology challenges in the aviation sector.
