The head coach of India, Gautam Gambhir, engaged in a contentious exchange with Surrey's ground staff leader, Lee Fortis, at the Oval. Fortis had instructed Gambhir to maintain distance from the pitch during an inspection, as reported by batting coach Sitanshu Kotak on Tuesday.
Media outlets indicated that Gambhir raised his finger in disagreement, telling Fortis not to direct him. Kotak highlighted the surprise among the Indian team when asked to stay 2.5 meters away from the pitch, given its proximity to a crucial test match starting the following day.
Despite the heated dialogue, Fortis minimized the issue's significance when addressing journalists. Tensions between India and England have escalated throughout the series, with India needing a victory at the Oval to equalize the series score at 2-2.
