The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is taking a significant step to support individuals associated with Indian football by establishing a Benevolence Fund. Announced by AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, this fund aims to provide financial aid to ex-players, coaches, referees, match officials, and support staff, among others, for medical expenses.
This initiative comes in response to numerous requests for financial assistance for serious medical conditions. To kickstart the fund, both President Chaubey and Vice President NA Haris have made personal contributions, totaling Rs 2,00,002. The AIFF will add Rs 5,00,000, raising the fund's initial corpus to Rs 7,00,002. Plans are underway to bolster the fund further through charity events and collaborations.
A dedicated committee will oversee the allocation of financial support on a case-by-case basis, ensuring fairness and transparency. In addition, a Pension Fund for long-serving AIFF employees is proposed. These measures reflect the federation's commitment to acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the football community over the years.
