At the World Aquatics Championships, China's Yu Zidi, just 12 years old, achieved an impressive feat by earning a bronze medal. Her participation in the preliminary round of the 4x200-meter freestyle relay helped secure China a podium finish.

Despite her young age, Zidi just missed out on individual medals, placing fourth in the 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley. She still has the 400 individual medley to compete in. Her performance prompts a reevaluation of age-limit rules, currently set at 14, as indicated by World Aquatics executive director Brent Nowicki.

The championships continue with notable absences, including stars Leon Marchand of France and Canada's Summer McIntosh. Evgenila Chikunova aims to defend her 200 breaststroke world record, as other finals unfold with top-tier competitors vying for medals.
