In a spirited display at the U19 Asian Boxing Championships 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand, Indian boxers Sagar and Harsh emerged victorious in their respective categories. Sagar dominated Bhutan's Tashi Yoezer in the men's 55kg, winning all three rounds, while Harsh showcased tactical brilliance to defeat China's Jiabao Yuan in the men's 60kg.
This prestigious event offers a crucial platform for India's young talent to test their mettle against some of Asia's most formidable opponents. With 40 boxers - 20 each in the U19 and U22 categories, India's contingent is a balanced mix of seasoned champions and emerging talents.
However, the day also witnessed setbacks as Vishvanath Suresh narrowly lost to Uzbekistan's Behruz Kholdorov in the men's 50kg, while Preet Malik succumbed to Kazakhstan's Ilya Kalinin in the men's 65kg. In the women's division, Devika Ghorpade and Kartik Dalal faced defeats, highlighting the tough competition faced by Indian athletes.
