Paris Olympic bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat encountered minimal resistance during the World Championship selection trials. Meanwhile, Sujeet Kalkal displayed outstanding counter-attacking skills, securing his spot in the national team for the men's freestyle 65kg category on Monday.
The upcoming World Championship in Zagreb will mark Sehrawat's second international event since clinching a bronze in Paris 2024. The 22-year-old wrestler improved his form after a bronze at the Mongolia Ranking Series, appearing sharper and more confident.
The selection trials showcased rising talent, with Sujeet Kalkal emerging victorious in the competitive 65kg class, displaying enhanced defense and attack capabilities. As veteran wrestler Bajrang Punia stepped back from the category, Kalkal is poised to make it his own.
