Manipur Swimmers Shine at National Championships in Bengaluru

The 41st Sub-Junior National Swimming Championships and the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championships commenced on Monday in Bengaluru, hosted by the Karnataka Swimming Association. Held at Basavangudi Aquatic Centre and Kensington Swimming Pool, the event witnessed exhilarating performances, particularly from Manipur's swimmers, who secured top positions across various categories.

In the Boys 200m Freestyle, Koijam Athoiba Singh from Manipur clinched the gold with a remarkable comeback in the second lap, clocking in at 2:09.63. He was closely followed by Amith H Pavan from Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh's Krishiv Doshi. Meanwhile, the Girls' 200m Freestyle was a fiercely contested race with Goa's Purvi Ritesh Naik pulling ahead in the final stretch to secure victory.

The Boys 200m Individual Medley was dominated by Hemanshu Nahakpam from Manipur, finishing first with a time of 2:23.80, followed by his compatriot Koijam Athoiba Singh. In the Girls' 200m Individual Medley, Maharashtra's Heeva Bhavesh Patel edged out her competitors to take the gold. The championships continue to be a testament to emerging talent and sportsmanship in India's aquatic sports scene.
