In a significant development for Irish cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the green light for Aimee Maguire to resume her international bowling duties. The announcement follows a suspension earlier this year when Maguire was reported for a suspect bowling action during a crucial ODI against India in Rajkot.
Upon failing the initial scrutiny, Maguire, adhering to the ICC's Illegal Bowling Regulations, underwent a comprehensive review process. With a reworked action assessed independently at an ICC-approved testing centre, Maguire has now been deemed to meet the required standards, with her elbow extension fitting within the permitted 15-degree tolerance.
Despite her reinstatement, the young bowler will not be part of the imminent three-match T20I series against Pakistan in Dublin. Since her ODI and T20I debut against the West Indies in July 2023, Maguire has demonstrated her prowess, capturing a total of 16 wickets in ODIs and nine in T20Is. At just 18, she continues to be a promising talent for Ireland.
