Two cricketers of Indian origin, Aryan Sharma and Yash Deshmukh, have been selected for Australia's 15-member squad for the forthcoming home series against India's Under-19 team next month. The announcement was made on Friday.
Sharma, a batter from Victoria, and all-rounder Deshmukh, one of the five players from New South Wales, join a squad led by former Australia head coach Tim Nielsen. The series, beginning with three 50-over matches and proceeding to two four-day matches, will see action at Brisbane's Ian Healy Oval and Mackay.
This marks Tim Nielsen's first assignment with the U-19 team since leading the senior Australia men's team from 2007 to 2011. Cricket Australia stresses the significance of this series as part of their long-term strategy to provide young players with international exposure across formats. The matches are set from September 21 through October 10.
