The 4th Sub-Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships kicked off on Thursday at Galgotias University, Greater Noida, marking the beginning of an exhilarating competition. Over 80 bouts took place as India's budding boxing stars displayed skill and determination.
These Sub-Junior Nationals serve as a vital component in India's grassroots boxing structure, offering young athletes a significant opportunity to showcase their abilities on a national stage. The Boxing Federation of India remains proactive in fostering talent from the ground level, ensuring the availability of opportunities and structured competitions for all age groups. Current champions, Haryana (Girls) and the Services Sports Control Board (Boys), set a formidable challenge for this year's participants.
In the girls' division, impressive victories came from boxers like Hitaish Nahar (HP), Garima (HAR), and Naomi Kom (Manipur). Meanwhile, Maanyata Chettri (SIK) and Lavanya Patil (Goa) achieved clean sweeps, while walkovers favored Vaidehi Chaudhari (GUJ) and Ekampreet Kaur (SSCB). Among the boys, Aryan Shekhawat (RAJ), Rehan Ansari (BIH), and Anmol Sharma (HP) delivered strong performances. The championship will run until August 13, spotlighting young talent nationwide.
