Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is poised to return to action for Liverpool in Sunday's Community Shield encounter against Crystal Palace at Wembley. After recovering from a series of injuries that sidelined him during key preseason activities, Mac Allister has been cleared to participate.
According to Liverpool's coach Arne Slot, the 26-year-old has been actively training with the squad and took part in recent friendly matches, albeit for limited time periods. 'He trained with us for a week now, played 30 minutes, 45 minutes,' Slot remarked, indicating that while Mac Allister could start, playing the full game is unlikely.
Defender Joe Gomez won't be part of the lineup due to a minor injury, as confirmed by Slot. Meanwhile, Mac Allister has been tackling ongoing physical issues, which he described as 'not just one spot,' but rather 'two or three different things' that have impacted his performance over the past months.
