R Ashwin's Future with Chennai Super Kings: A Potential Shift in IPL

Senior Indian off-spinner R Ashwin is currently engaged in discussions with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management, as rumors swirl about his potential departure from the IPL franchise.

With more than two months remaining until the retention deadline, talks are underway to determine Ashwin's future role within the team. According to an IPL source, these discussions are part of a strategic pre-auction evaluation to clarify roles for the next IPL season.

Ashwin, who retired from international cricket last year, was acquired for Rs 9.75 crore before the 2025 season. Having previously played for CSK between 2009 and 2015, his return marked a homecoming. Meanwhile, speculation suggests CSK may also target Sanju Samson, who seeks to leave the Rajasthan Royals.
