ICA's New Benefit: Financial Support for Spouses of Deceased Cricketers

The Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA) is launching a one-time financial benefit for the spouses of its deceased members, following approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This initiative is set to provide Rs 1 lakh to the spouses, acknowledging the contributions and sacrifices of families during their times of loss.

Notably, the scheme excludes International Test Cricketers, focusing instead on other ICA members. Around 50 beneficiaries are expected in the initial phase, significantly aiding those in immediate need. A media release emphasized the organization's dedication to supporting cricketers' families beyond their professional lives.

The ICA plans to periodically review and possibly adjust the benefit, with considerations of implementing a broader pension scheme for widows and Widowers, subject to BCCI's approval.
