In a noteworthy development, Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has won back her No.1 position in the ICC ODI rankings following a dynamic performance against Australia. The latest rankings released on Tuesday see Mandhana at the top among women batters, a morale boost ahead of the Women's Cricket World Cup starting September 30.

Mandhana delivered a commendable 58 off 63 balls during the opening game of the three-match series in Mullanpur. Although India lost the match to a dominant Australian side, her efforts were pivotal enough to earn her an additional seven rating points, propelling her past England's Nat Sciver-Brunt by four points.

With 735 rating points, Mandhana continues her journey to assert dominance in women's cricket. Having first held the top spot in 2019, she has now reclaimed it for the second time in 2025. Other notable performances include India's Pratika Rawal rising to the 42nd position and Australia's Beth Mooney climbing to fifth.
