In a significant achievement, Indian cricketer Varun Chakaravarthy has ascended to the top of the ICC T20 Bowlers' Rankings for the first time. The 34-year-old spinner is now the third Indian to reach this milestone, joining the ranks of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.
Chakaravarthy's climb to the top follows standout performances, including a 1/4 spell against UAE and 1/24 against Pakistan. Previously, he achieved his best ranking in February 2025, placing second before surpassing New Zealand's Jacob Duffy, who held the top spot since March.
Additional strides in the rankings were seen as Kuldeep Yadav surged 16 places to 23rd in the bowling ranks, while spin all-rounder Axar Patel climbed to 12th. In batting, Hardik Pandya maintained his lead, as Abhishek Sharma reached a career-high rating after explosive innings, while England's Phil Salt and Jos Buttler advanced in their T20 standings.
