Afghanistan men's cricket team head coach Jonathan Trott has described India's squad as one of the favorites in the ongoing T20 Asia Cup. Speaking to ANI, Trott emphasized the strength and consistency of Indian cricket, especially in these conditions, recalling their performance in the Champions Trophy.
India has commenced their Asia Cup journey impressively, clinching victories against UAE and Pakistan in the group stage. Demonstrating superb form, they overcame UAE by nine wickets and defeated Pakistan by seven wickets. Trott commended Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, noting the additional responsibility of captaincy suits him well.
Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib also showered accolades on India, calling them the leading team in Asia and globally. Naib, who has played alongside Indian cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL), highlighted the valuable lessons learned from them. Meanwhile, a thrilling performance by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman saw Bangladesh narrowly beat Afghanistan by eight runs, shaking up the group standings.
