Defender Rohit is set to captain India's junior team in the upcoming Sultan of Johor Cup, commencing on October 11 in Malaysia. The Indian squad is keen to improve upon their bronze-medal performance in the previous edition of the tournament.
Spanning from October 11 to 18, the event provides a precursor to the Junior World Cup scheduled from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai. India will face formidable opponents including Great Britain, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, and hosts Malaysia in the round-robin stage.
India coach PR Sreejesh emphasized the tournament's value, stating it offers a crucial platform for players to test their mettle and gain international experience ahead of the World Cup. The team hopes for a strong showing in Malaysia, with the top two teams progressing to the final on October 18.
