FC Barcelona made history by clinching their sixth IHF Handball Club World Cup title, edging out defending champions Veszprem 31-30 in an exhilarating final held in Egypt's New Administrative Capital.
The teams were locked at 21-21 after regulation time, but Barcelona's last-minute surge in overtime, including a decisive goal by Aleix Gomez, ensured their victory.
Although not originally qualified, Barcelona was granted a wildcard entry by the International Handball Federation to enhance the competition's appeal. Simultaneously, Germany's SC Magdeburg secured third place by defeating Al Ahly.
