South Africa's ICC World Test Championship (WTC) victory was a historic moment, celebrated by captain Temba Bavuma, who overcame a hamstring injury to play a match-winning innings of 66 runs. Alongside Aiden Markram's exceptional 136, Bavuma led his team to chase down 282 against Australia, clinching their first major title in cricket.

Despite their triumph, South Africa's journey to this point was fraught with challenges. Since their re-entry to international cricket in 1992, the team experienced numerous disappointments, including narrow losses and the persistent 'Chokers' label, even with a rich talent pool. Prior to the WTC final, South Africa faced tough losses in consecutive ICC events.

During the CEAT Cricket Ratings Awards in Mumbai, Bavuma reflected on the significance of playing through injury to guide his team to victory, emphasizing the importance of leadership in critical moments. His performance in the WTC cycle, topping scores with 711 runs, earned him the 'Exemplary Leadership' award.
