India has been highlighted as a high-risk nation for doping by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), following a troubling record of doping violations over recent years. This categorization comes after extensive data showed India at the top of the list in recorded Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs).
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is taking significant steps to address this issue, working closely with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The aim is to upgrade the nation's anti-doping measures and eventually be delisted from the AIU's 'Category A', which represents the highest risk of doping.
Under new stringent requirements, Indian athletes will now face more intensive testing and stricter anti-doping protocols. Despite past oversight, AFI pledges commitment to reform, emphasizing education and stronger regulation to combat doping and protect the integrity of athletics in India.
