Kolkata Knight Riders consider introducing Matheesha Pathirana for their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, as the Sri Lankan bowler joins the team post-injury. Weighing team balance, KKR aims to maintain winning momentum. Head Coach Tim Southee discusses selection challenges and the importance of the Powerplay against a strong SRH line-up.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are contemplating the debut of Matheesha Pathirana for their forthcoming away game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Sri Lankan pacer, who has been with KKR for two weeks after overcoming injury, is yet to make his first appearance for the franchise.
Clearing his fitness test back in Sri Lanka, Pathirana joined the team prior to their match against Rajasthan Royals, eager to support KKR's struggling pace attack. Despite consecutive victories, KKR is cautious about altering a winning formula ahead of their playoff bid and going up against a robust SRH line-up.
Bowling coach Tim Southee highlighted the crucial Powerplay phase where KKR's bowlers must excel to overcome SRH's formidable top order. The team is focused on strategic choices that will best handle conditions during the forthcoming match, as they aim to climb out of their current eighth-place position.
