World number one, Jannik Sinner, has matched Novak Djokovic's record by extending his Masters 1000 winning streak to 31 matches. Sinner claimed a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory against fellow Italian, Andrea Pellegrino, during the round of 16 at the Italian Open.
The 24-year-old Sinner, celebrated for his remarkable Grand Slam success, showcased his prowess early by establishing a 4-0 lead before Pellegrino entered the scoreboard. Despite a more competitive second set, where Pellegrino equalized at 3-3, Sinner broke away to secure the match comfortably.
Earlier in the month, Sinner became the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles with a victory in the Madrid Open. If Sinner clinches the title in Rome, he will join Djokovic as the only men to have won all nine Masters 1000 tournaments.
