In a dramatic display of protest, a family in Odisha's Balasore district transported a woman's body on a bicycle for 12 kilometers, demanding justice at a local police station. The family alleged inaction from the authorities regarding the arrest of those accused in her murder.
The deceased, Kamala Sethi, reportedly died following a dispute between neighbors over a construction project. The altercation also left her sister-in-law, Sakuntala Sethi, seriously injured. Family members, dissatisfied with the police response, resorted to the unprecedented move of carrying the body to highlight their plight.
Video clips of the unique protest went viral, prompting senior officials, including Balasore Superintendent of Police Pratyush Diwakar, to address the issue. While one suspect has been apprehended, two others remain at large. Authorities have promised swift action to bring the remaining culprits to justice.
