Delhi, the defending champions, opened their Group D campaign in the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men's National Football Championship 2025-26 with a decisive 5-1 victory over Sikkim in a match held at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chhattisgarh.
Delhi took an early lead through Parth Subhash Salunke. Although Sikkim's Sujal Bhujel equalized, Kanish Rawat's brace for Delhi soon restored their advantage. Further goals by Thongbam Lanchenba Singh and Kanak Raj Vohra sealed a commanding win for the champions.
Elsewhere, Tripura earned a 3-0 victory over Himachal Pradesh, while Punjab edged Goa 2-1. Meanwhile, Maharashtra scraped past Assam with a slender 1-0 win, positioning themselves strategically in Group H alongside Punjab.
