Stalemate in Kolkata: Mohun Bagan and Inter Kashi Share the Spoils
In a tightly contested Indian Super League match, Mohun Bagan SG and Inter Kashi played out a goalless draw. Despite dominating possession, Mohun Bagan couldn't penetrate Inter Kashi's disciplined defense. Both teams earned a point, leaving Mohun Bagan level on points with East Bengal FC at the top.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant were unable to break through a solid Inter Kashi defense, resulting in a goalless draw in their Indian Super League encounter on Tuesday at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Despite dominating possession, the Mariners couldn't capitalize and had to settle for a single point. The draw brings Mohun Bagan's tally to 22 points from 11 matches, drawing level with league leaders East Bengal FC but lagging behind on goal difference.
Inter Kashi, positioned 10th with 12 points, showcased resilience throughout. Mohun Bagan's midfielder, Sahal Abdul Samad, took the initiative early in the game but couldn't convert his efforts on goal. Inter Kashi had their chance to upset Mohun Bagan's rhythm in the ninth minute when Mohammed Asif narrowly missed after a coordinated move with teammates Alfred Planas, Nauris Petkevicius, and Sergio Llamas. Despite holding a majority share of possession, Mohun Bagan found it challenging to breach Inter Kashi's compact formation.
In the second half, Mohun Bagan's coach Sergio Lobera introduced attacking substitutions in hopes of breaking the deadlock. However, despite concerted efforts and attempts from Dimitrios Petratos and Jamie Maclaren, Inter Kashi's defensive stronghold, led by Narender Gahlot, remained unyielding. Late efforts from Manvir Singh and Jayesh Rane fell short, while Shubham Dhas's crucial saves ensured the match ended without a winner. Mohun Bagan's struggle to convert their possession into goals left them pondering missed chances.
