Indian Athletes Set for International Training Ahead of Major Games
Indian athletes Neeraj Chopra and Manu Bhaker prepare for upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games with approved international training stints. While Chopra focuses on rehabilitation and preparation in Switzerland, Bhaker trains in Italy. These efforts aim to enhance their performance and secure medals at these prestigious events.
Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, recovering from a back injury, is set to train at Switzerland's Olympic Training Centre starting May 25. This follows the Sports Ministry's approval of his and shooter Manu Bhaker's foreign exposure proposals, considering the Commonwealth and Asian Games looming on the horizon.
Chopra will participate in both major events, while Bhaker will compete exclusively in the Asian Games. Although shooting is not part of the Commonwealth Games, her training in Italy aims to boost her chances in the Asian competitions. Chopra's proposal outlines a 47-day camp in Bienne, Switzerland, as confirmed by the Ministry's Mission Olympic Cell.
The Sports Authority highlights that Chopra will be accompanied by his physiotherapist and coach. The proposal includes various logistics costs, ensuring thorough preparation. Simultaneously, double Olympic medallist Bhaker will train in Lucca, Italy. This strategic training aim to prime both athletes for notable performances and potential victories.
