Garrick Higgo, a celebrated golfer from South Africa, narrowly avoided disqualification after arriving late to the tee at the PGA Championship. Penalized two strokes for his tardiness, Higgo was spared disqualification by arriving at the tee within five minutes of his scheduled start time.
In a dramatic twist at the PGA Championship, South African golfer Garrick Higgo faced a two-stroke penalty after arriving late to the tee on Thursday morning. The tournament, held at Aronimink Golf Club, saw Higgo narrowly avoid disqualification due to his tardiness.
Higgo, who has already claimed two victories on the PGA Tour, was slated for a 7:18 a.m. tee-off alongside Shaun Micheel and Michael Brennan from the par-four first hole. However, he was delayed as he was still on the practice putting green at his appointed time.
Fortunately for the 27-year-old golfer, he reached the tee within five minutes of his start time, escaping a more severe penalty. This quick action kept him in the game, or he would have faced disqualification from the prestigious tournament.
