Punjab Kings Eyes Future WPL Expansion Amidst Growing Women's Cricket Interest

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has currently ruled out expanding the Women's Premier League (WPL), but Punjab Kings co-owner Mohit Burman is keen on investing in a women's team at a future point.

Burman commended the WPL's rapid establishment as a crucial platform for women's cricket, highlighting its global growth and commercial potential. He believes the women's game's trajectory is exceptionally promising.

Although the BCCI maintains a consolidation approach over immediate WPL expansion, the league and Indian women's cricket success, particularly following the ODI World Cup victory, has significantly increased grassroots interest and potential investment.
