The Sports Ministry has unveiled plans to deploy IT Consultants within National Sports Federations (NSFs) to enhance their digital frameworks. This initiative aims to improve coordination as India gears up to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
This strategic move is part of the broader National Sports Digital Ecosystem, designed to optimize digital systems for efficient planning of competitions, coaching camps, and governance. However, specifics such as hiring timelines and consultant numbers remain undisclosed. Currently, the ministry oversees over 40 national federations.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted that IT Consultants will aid federations in implementing and managing new digital systems under this framework for seamless operational integration. These professionals, trained by the Sports Authority of India's IT cell, are intended to bolster smaller federations lacking independent digital upgrade resources.
The consultants will enhance nationwide sports planning by supporting federations in managing annual calendars, athlete nominations, result uploads, and compliance submissions. The ministry expects this to improve competition efficiency, data quality, and enable a heightened focus on athlete development and sporting excellence as India strengthens its Olympic ambitions.
